Abraham leaves Ur and Haran for a land he has never seen, on nothing more than a promise of land, offspring and blessing for all nations. His long wait for Isaac, the covenant of circumcision, and the near-sacrifice on Moriah make him the model of faith for Jews, Christians and Muslims alike.
