A Galilean fisherman renamed Cephas, Peter walks on water and sinks, confesses Jesus as the Christ and is rebuked minutes later, denies him three times and is restored on the shore. At Pentecost he preaches the sermon that starts the church, and at Caesarea he is the one sent to a Gentile household.
