King of Egypt named in Scripture · Divided kingdom, c. 925 BC
Shishak in the Bible
Shishak shelters Jeroboam from Solomon, and five years into Rehoboam's reign marches on Jerusalem and strips the treasures of the temple and palace, including Solomon's gold shields. Rehoboam replaces them with bronze.
What Scripture says, and what it leaves open
Widely identified with Shoshenq I, whose campaign list at Karnak names towns in Israel and Judah. The identification is well supported but is a historical conclusion, not a biblical statement.
