Nazareth in the Bible
Nazareth is an obscure Galilean village — 'can anything good come out of Nazareth?' — where Jesus grows up and first reads Isaiah aloud in the synagogue, to a reception that turns violent.
Archaeology
Excavation shows a small agricultural settlement of perhaps a few hundred people in the first century, with rock-cut tombs, wine and olive presses and at least one first-century house preserved beneath later churches.
