And it came to pass after many7227 days3117, that 1697 of the LORD3068 came to 452 in the third7992 year8141, saying559, Go3212, shew7200 thyself unto 256; and I will send5414 rain4306 upon6440 the earth127. And 452 went3212 to shew7200 himself unto 256. And there was a sore2389 famine7458 in 8111. And 256 called7121 5662, which was the governor of his house1004. (Now 5662 feared3373 the LORD3068 greatly3966: : Heb. Obadiahu the governor: Heb. over his house For it was so, when 348 cut off3772 the prophets5030 of the LORD3068, that 5662 took3947 an hundred3967 prophets5030, and hid2244 them by fifty376 2572 in a cave4631, and fed3557 them with bread3899 and water4325.) : Heb. As the LORD3068 thy God430 liveth2416, there is no3426 nation1471 or kingdom4467, whither834 my lord113 hath not sent7971 to seek1245 thee: and when they said559, He is not there; he took an oath7650 of the kingdom4467 and nation1471, that they found4672 thee not. And now thou sayest559, Go3212, tell559 thy lord113, Behold, 452 is here. And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone3212 from thee, that the Spirit7307 of the LORD3068 shall carry5375 thee whither I know3045 not; and so when I come935 and tell5046 256, and he cannot find4672 thee, he shall slay2026 me: but I thy servant5650 fear3372 the LORD3068 from my youth5271. And he answered559, I have not troubled5916 3478; but thou, and thy father's1 house1004, in that ye have forsaken5800 the commandments4687 of the LORD3068, and thou hast followed3212 310 Baalim1168. Now therefore send7971, and gather6908 to me all 3478 unto mount2022 Carmel3760, and the prophets5030 of Baal1168 four702 hundred3967 and fifty2572, and the prophets5030 of the groves842 four702 hundred3967, which eat398 at 's348 table7979. And 452 came5066 unto all the people5971, and said559, How long5921 halt6452 ye between two8147 opinions5587? if the LORD3068 be God430, follow him: but if Baal1168, then follow3212 310 him. And all the people5971 came near5066 unto him. And he repaired7495 the altar4196 of the LORD3068 that was broken down2040. And 452 took3947 twelve8147 6240 stones68, according to the number4557 of the tribes7626 of the sons1121 of 3290, unto whom 1697 of the LORD3068 came, saying559, 3478 shall be thy name8034: And with the stones68 he built1129 an altar4196 in the name8034 of the LORD3068: and he made6213 a trench8585 about5439 the altar4196, as great as would contain1004 two measures5429 of seed2233. And he 6186 the wood6086 in order6186, and cut5408 the bullock6499 in pieces, and laid7760 him the wood6086, and said559, Fill4390 four702 barrels3537 with water4325, and pour3332 it the burnt sacrifice5930, and the wood6086. Hear6030 me, O LORD3068, hear6030 me, that this people5971 may know3045 that thou art the LORD3068 God430, and that thou hast turned5437 their heart3820 back5437 again322. Then the fire784 of the LORD3068 fell5307, and consumed398 the burnt sacrifice5930, and the wood6086, and the stones68, and the dust6083, and licked up3897 the water4325 that was in the trench8585. And when all the people5971 saw7200 it, they fell5307 their faces6440: and they said559, The LORD3068, he is the God430; the LORD3068, he is the God430. And 452 said559 unto them, Take8610 the prophets5030 of Baal1168; let not one376 of them escape4422. And they took8610 them: and 452 brought them down3381 to the brook5158 7028, and slew7819 them there.
