Now 3478 went out3318 against7125 the 6430 to battle4421, and pitched2583 beside Ebenezer72: and the 6430 pitched2583 in Aphek663. came: or, came to pass: Hebr. was And the 6430 themselves in array6186 against7125 3478: and when they joined5203 battle4421, 3478 was smitten5062 before6440 the 6430: and they slew5221 of the army4634 in the field7704 about four702 thousand505 men376. they joined: Heb. the battle was spread army: Heb. array And when the people5971 were come935 into the camp4264, the elders2205 of 3478 said559, Wherefore hath the LORD3068 smitten5062 us to day3117 before6440 the 6430? Let us fetch3947 the 727 of the 1285 of the LORD3068 out of 7887 unto us, that, when it cometh935 among7130 us, it may save3467 us out of the hand3709 of our enemies341. fetch: Heb. take unto us So the people5971 sent7971 to 7887, that they might bring5375 from thence the 727 of the 1285 of the LORD3068 of hosts6635, which dwelleth3427 between the cherubims3742: and the two8147 sons1121 of 5941, Hophni2652 and 6372, were there with the 727 of the 1285 of God430.
