And 3290 went1980 his way1870, and the angels4397 of God430 met6293 him. And when 3290 saw them7200, he said559, This is God's430 host4264: and he called7121 the name8034 of that place4725 4266. : that is, Two hosts, or, camps And 3290 sent7971 messengers4397 before him6440 to 6215 his brother251 unto the land776 of Seir8165, the country7704 of 123. country: Heb. field And he commanded6680 them, saying559, Thus shall ye speak559 unto my lord113 6215; Thy servant5650 3290 saith559 thus, I have sojourned1481 with 3837, and stayed there309 until now: And I have oxen7794, and asses2543, flocks6629, and menservants5650, and womenservants8198: and I have sent7971 to tell5046 my lord113, that I may find4672 2580 in thy sight5869. And the messengers4397 returned7725 to 3290, saying559, We came935 to thy brother251 6215, and also he cometh1980 to meet thee7125, and four hundred3967 men376 with him. Then 3290 was greatly3966 afraid3372 and distressed3334: and he divided2673 the people5971 that was with him, and the flocks6629, and herds1241, and the camels1581, into two8147 bands4264; And said559, If 6215 come935 to the one259 company4264, and smite it5221, then the other company4264 which is left7604 shall escape6413. And 3290 said559, O God430 of my father1 85, and God430 of my father1 3327, the LORD3068 which saidst559 unto me, Return7725 unto thy country776, and to thy kindred4138, and I will deal 3190 with thee: I am not worthy of the least6994 of all the mercies2617, and of all the truth571, which thou hast shewed6213 unto thy servant5650; for with my 4731 I passed over5674 this 3383; and now I am become two8147 bands4264. I am not: Heb. And he said559, Thy name8034 shall be called559 no more 3290, but 3478: for as a prince hast thou power8280 with God430 and with men582, and hast prevailed3201. : that is, A prince of God And 3290 asked7592 him, and said559, Tell5046 me, I pray thee, thy name8034. And he said559, Wherefore is it2088 that thou dost ask7592 after my name8034? And he blessed1288 him there. And 3290 called7121 the name8034 of the place4725 Peniel6439: for I have seen7200 God430 face6440 to face6440, and my life5315 is preserved5337. Peniel: that is, The face of God And as he passed over5674 6439 the sun8121 rose2224 upon him, and he halted6760 upon his thigh3409. Therefore the children1121 of 3478 eat398 not of the sinew1517 which shrank5384, which is upon the hollow3709 of the thigh3409, unto this day3117: because he touched5060 the hollow3709 of 's3290 thigh3409 in the sinew1517 that shrank5384.
