Joseph in the Bible
Joseph is sold into Egypt by his brothers, imprisoned on a false charge, and raised to govern the country after interpreting Pharaoh's dreams. His verdict on the whole affair — 'you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good' — is one of Scripture's clearest statements about providence.
