Sea of Galilee in the Bible

Also called Sea of Chinnereth

A freshwater lake ringed by fishing towns, the Sea of Galilee is the setting for the calling of the first disciples, the calming of the storm, walking on water, and the breakfast on the shore after the resurrection.

Archaeology

A first-century fishing boat recovered from the lakebed near Ginosar in 1986 is the best physical evidence for the kind of craft the Gospels describe.
